Aluminium PCB

At Orbis Electrica, our Aluminium Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) are engineered for applications where effective heat dissipation, reliability, and compact design are critical. Aluminium substrates are widely used in high-power, high-thermal load systems such as LED lighting, power electronics, motor drives, and industrial controls.

What is an Aluminium PCB?

An aluminium PCB integrates a metal base layer — typically an aluminium alloy — with a thermally conductive insulating layer and a copper circuit layer. This structure allows heat generated by components to be rapidly conducted away from hot spots into the metal core, significantly improving thermal performance compared with traditional FR-4 boards.

Key Benefits

Superior Thermal Conductivity

Aluminium’s thermal properties allow rapid heat transfer from heat-generating components such as power transistors, LEDs, and high-current circuits into the metal core, reducing operating temperatures and extending component life.

Improved Reliability

Efficient heat dissipation reduces thermal stress on solder joints and components, enhancing reliability in continuous operation and harsh environments. Aluminium PCBs also exhibit strong dimensional stability under temperature cycling.

Compact and Lightweight Designs

By reducing or eliminating the need for external heat sinks, aluminium PCBs enable more compact and lighter assemblies without compromising thermal performance — ideal for space- or weight-constrained designs.

Mechanical Robustness

The metal substrate provides enhanced rigidity and vibration resistance compared with conventional FR-4 boards, making aluminium PCBs suitable for industrial, automotive, and outdoor applications.

Cost-Effectiveness

Aluminium is abundant and recyclable, offering cost advantages over other high-performance substrates. Integrated thermal management can reduce the need for additional cooling components, lowering overall system cost.
